Privacy & Data Protection

When you apply to the summit or write to us, you hand over personal information. This page explains why we ask for it, who we share it with, how long we hold on to it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Scope and who is responsible

This notice covers the personal data we process through the Turkish American Technology Summit (TATS) website and through the application and contact processes connected to the summit.

The summit takes place on September 5, 2026 at Türkevi in New York, hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in New York / Türkevi and supported by Genç MÜSİAD. Attendance is by application and invitation. We do not sell tickets, products or services through this site, and we never ask you for payment details.

The data controller is the TATS organizing committee, which runs the summit. You can reach us at event@tatechsummit.com with any question or request.

The controller's registered legal name and postal address will be published here once they are confirmed.

What we collect

We only process what you choose to give us. Apart from the forms on this site, we do not gather information about you.

The application form asks for:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • The organization or company you work for
  • Your title or role
  • Your attendee profile (founder, investor, academic, student, corporate representative and so on)
  • The focus areas you are interested in and what you hope to get out of the day
  • Any free-text note you want to add

The contact form collects your name, your email address and whatever you write in your message.

On top of that, the infrastructure hosting this site may keep automatic server logs (IP address, browser details, request time) for security and error tracking. We do not use those logs for profiling or marketing.

Why we process it

We use what we collect only for the following purposes:

  • Reviewing your application, managing capacity and telling you the outcome
  • Building and maintaining the list of confirmed attendees
  • Sending event notices such as the programme, timings, venue and entry details
  • Enabling the accreditation and security checks required to enter Türkevi
  • Planning the panels, exhibition floor and networking sessions around the mix of attendees
  • Answering the questions, requests and partnership proposals you send us
  • Producing aggregate, non-identifying statistics after the event

We will not repurpose your data beyond this list. If a new purpose comes up, we will tell you and, where required, ask for your consent first.

Legal basis

Your personal data is processed in line with Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK) and related legislation. Our processing rests on the following grounds:

  • Reviewing your application and arranging your attendance is directly connected to forming and performing an agreement with you, under KVKK art. 5/2-(c).
  • Running the event, keeping records and securing the venue rest on our legitimate interests, under KVKK art. 5/2-(f).
  • Sharing entry and accreditation records with the host institution falls under compliance with legal obligations, under KVKK art. 5/2-(ç).
  • For transfers abroad and for using photo and video footage in promotional material, we ask for your explicit consent.

Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of anything we did before you withdrew it.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the same activities rest on consent, performance of a contract and legitimate interests under the GDPR.

Transfers outside Türkiye

The summit is held in the United States, at Türkevi in New York. Data such as the attendee list and entry records therefore has to leave Türkiye for the event to happen at all.

Servers belonging to the providers we use for hosting, form handling and email may also sit outside Türkiye.

Any transfer abroad is made under KVKK art. 9, either on your explicit consent or on one of the safeguards the law provides. In every case we transfer only what the purpose actually requires.

If you would rather your data did not leave Türkiye, we may not be able to admit you to the summit, because entry records have to be processed in the country where the event takes place.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or hand your data to third parties for advertising. We share it only in the situations below, and only as far as necessary:

  • Host institution: your name and identity or passport details may be shared with the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in New York / Türkevi for entry, accreditation and security screening.
  • Supporting institution and programme partners: only as far as running the event requires, and wherever possible in aggregate rather than individual form.
  • Service providers: suppliers for hosting, form handling and email delivery, acting only on our instructions and under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • Authorities: competent public bodies, where they request it under applicable law.

Your contact details go to sponsors or other attendees only if you have explicitly agreed to that.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as the purposes set out in this notice require.

If your application is not approved, your record is deleted or anonymized once the event has taken place. Records of confirmed attendees may be kept for the statutory limitation periods, so that we can complete post-event reporting, meet venue security obligations and defend against any legal claim.

At the end of those periods the data is deleted, destroyed or irreversibly anonymized. If you tell us you no longer want event notices, we remove you from the announcement list straight away.

Cookies and site measurement

This site currently sets no advertising or behavioural targeting cookies, and runs no third-party analytics or tracking scripts.

The only cookies in use are the strictly necessary ones that let the site work, chiefly the preference cookie that remembers whether you are reading in Turkish or English.

If we start using analytics or measurement cookies later, we will update this page and, where required, ask for your consent separately.

Keeping it safe

Access to your data is limited to the people who need it to do their job. Site and form traffic travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and records are held in systems with access controls.

Even so, no transmission over the internet and no electronic storage is completely secure. If you suspect anything that affects the safety of your data, please write to us straight away.

Your rights and how to use them

Under article 11 of the KVKK you have the right to:

  • Learn whether your personal data is being processed
  • Request information about that processing
  • Learn the purpose of the processing and whether the data is used accordingly
  • Know the third parties in Türkiye or abroad that your data has been transferred to
  • Request that incomplete or inaccurate data be corrected
  • Request deletion or destruction of your data under the conditions set out in the law
  • Request that corrections, deletions and destructions be notified to the third parties your data was transferred to
  • Object to a decision reached solely through automated analysis that works against you
  • Claim compensation if unlawful processing has caused you damage

Send your request to event@tatechsummit.com, along with enough information for us to verify who you are. We respond free of charge within thirty days at the latest.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you keep the right to complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the European Economic Area.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as preparations for the summit move forward. The current version always lives on this page, and the date at the top changes with it.

If a change materially affects your attendance or how your data is handled, we will email registered attendees about it separately.
